My Go-To De-Bloat Smoothie

Updated: Nov 21, 2018

We've all been there: you have to unbutton the top part of your pants or laying in the fetal position, hoping it will pass soon. Bloating can be due to a number of things. Maybe you ate a little bit too much at the dinner party or perhaps you ate a high sodium meal at a restaurant. It could be due to something more serious such as issues with candida or food allergies. Bloating is normal. If I have had an indulgent weekend and perhaps need a little more nourishment, this is my go to smoothie. It is hydrating and full of ingredients like ginger and turmeric that help to reduce inflammation in the gut and calm the digestive tract.

Give it a try!

De-Bloat Smoothie

Serves 1

  • 1 cup coconut water

  • 1/2 cup filtered water

  • Juice of half a lemon or lime

  • 2 handfuls organic greens mix or baby spinach

  • 1/2 cup cucumber

  • Small piece of fresh ginger or turmeric (or both!)

  • 1/2 cup frozen fruit (my favourites are strawberries or pineapple)

  • Small handful of mint, parsley or cilantro

  • Optional: Add 1 tbsp chia seeds or 1/3 avocado for some healthy fats

Add all ingredients to a blender. Add more water if needed. Yields 2 cups.
