Luckily our body naturally does a pretty good job of detoxifying itself, especially if you are eating the right kids of foods. Our body can accumulate toxins from the foods we eat and the environment we live in. Try incorporating these foods every day into your diet to help aid your body naturally in the detoxification process.
Beets: Beets are amazing to aid with the detoxification of the liver. They are full of vitamin C, potassium and manganese. They help to purify the blood and liver, aiding in phase two liver detoxification. They also help to reduce blood pressure, fight inflammation and have anti-cancer properties.
Carrots: Full of vitamins A and K. Beta carotene is what gives carrots their vibrant colour. These antioxidants fight free radicals, boost immunity and aid in skin and eye health. I love having a carrot and beet juice. It's sweet and super refreshing. I also like to shred carrot and beets and drizzle with apple cider vinegar and olive oil for a detoxing side salad.
Omega 3 Fatty Acids: Fatty acids are required by the liver to aid in the detoxification process as well as aid with protecting the cell membranes. They also help to reduce inflammation and balance blood sugar levels. My favourite sources are wild salmon, hemp hearts or fish or flaxseed oil.
Berries: Another food that is full of antioxidants, phytonutrients and fibre. Berries are also lower in sugar than most other fruits and contain fibre to help with blood sugar regulation. Berries also contain anti-carcinogenic (anti-cancer) compounds. Make sure you buy organic berries as they are one of the most highly sprayed crops.
Kale: Full of vitamin K, iron, folic acid and antioxidants. Kale also contains sulfur compounds that aid the liver in the detoxification process and full of fibre to increase elimination.
So what do all these foods all have in common? They are colourful! So eat the rainbow. Include tons of colourful foods in your diet to gain optimal nutrients and naturally aid your body in the detoxification process.

Shred the carrot and beet and chop up the rest of the veggies. Layer over kale and make it look pretty! Sprinkle with hemp hearts and serve with lemon tahini dressing.
