5 Healthy Habits to Start Implementing in 2022
As the new year is upon us we get bombarded with new years resolutions. We start to reflect on our past year, on all the things we did or didn’t accomplish. Creating healthy routines or “getting back on track” after the holiday season are usually at the top of most peoples new years goals.
I wanted to share a few really easy healthy habits that you can start implementing right away that will have a significant impact on your energy and mood everyday.
5 healthy habits to start implementing in 2022:
Eat breakfast. If you are skipping breakfast and chugging coffee all morning, this is a sure fire way to set yourself up for sugar cravings, afternoon crashes and hormone imbalances. Eating a breakfast full of protein helps to regulate blood sugar and cortisol levels and manage sugar cravings. Need some breakfast ideas? Check out my meal plans here!
Move your body daily. 20 minutes per day is my gentle rule of thumb. We are meant to more our bodies and we should be honouring this daily. If doesn’t have to be an intense workout, it can be as simple as a walk and a stretch to get our blood moving. This does wonders for our mental wellbeing and energy.
Set some boundaries around social media. I know for me personally when I am scrolling I can get into a state of comparison and I notice my anxiety go up. I delete the apps right off my phone around 7 pm and don’t check them again until I have had a nourishing morning routine and have gotten some work done! I also try to get 1-2 social media free days in on the weekend. I always feel so refreshed after! Try it.
Start your day with a glass of water before anything else. Roll out of bed and pour yourself a cup of coffee? Start making it a habit to hydrate your body first thing. Your cells with thank you!
Eat sitting down with no distractions. That means no scrolling, answering emails or eating at your desk! Sit down with your meals and tune into your food. You will feel much more satisfied and be able to tune into your hunger and fullness cues better.
Also just a quick reminder, if you overindulged this holiday season, please do not restrict, cleanse, detox or aim to work off what you ate. Let’s let go of the all or nothing mentality this year!
