The holidays are among us and it can be easy to get into the habit of letting our healthy habits slip this time of year.
If you have been following me for awhile, you know how I feel about dieting and following an all or nothing approach to eating and nutrition.

I want you all to head into the new year feeling vibrant and full of energy, not jumping into anther diet!

Here are my top tips for staying on track this holiday season:

  • Keep your foundations in place. Drink lots of water, have a healthy breakfast with 20+ grams of protein, get in some movement even if it's only a 20 minute walk.

  • Aim for the 80/20 rule. 80% of the time make healthy choices and save 20% for fun food and indulging. I am a true believer in balance!

  • Release any guilt associated with food choices. If you decide to eat a cookie, eat it and move on with it. Don't label foods good or bad.

  • If you experience guilt around food, try this affirmation "I trust my body knows what to do with this food". Also, download my workbook the 7 Step Mind-Body-Food Reset to start shifting your mindset around food and your body.

  • Practice mindful eating. Put all your food on a plate and sit down rather than hang out around the appy table or charcuterie board. Take a couple deep breaths, slow down and chew your food thoroughly. You will feel so much more satisfied!

  • Don't deprive yourself! Indulging mindfully can be part of having a healthy relationship with food. It takes a bit of practice to trust yourself and lose the guilty feelings.

  • Focus on how you feel. Totally throwing out your healthy habits and going with the mentality that you'll start over in the new year is the same mentality that will keep you stuck on the diet bandwagon. Make the commitment to making healthy living your lifestyle so you never have to go on a diet again.

How good would if feel to go into January feeling full of energy and ready to crush your 2021 goals? I hope you try out some of these tips!

Stay happy and healthy this holiday season. I am always here for support if you need me!.
