Creamy Turmeric Latte

One of my favourite things about the cooler months is snuggling up with a warm drink. I love this nourishing turmeric drink as it is full of anti inflammatory ingredients and helps to aid in digestion. It’s great after dinner as a sweet treat or in the afternoon for a pick me up!

A few notes:

  • Make sure to use coconut milk from a can. It makes a huge difference in flavour and adds a healthy dose of fat. You can also substitute any nut milk you like if you don’t have or like coconut milk.

  • Don’t forget the black pepper! It helps to make the healing properties of turmeric more bioavailable to our cells. You won’t taste it I promise!

  • Use collagen protein powder to make it more frothy and to add a gut healing component. Collagen is great for helping to seal up the lining of the intestinal tract.

  • For the ginger, you can use fresh ginger if you don’t have the powder. Peel a small chunk of fresh ginger and let steep in the milk. Strain before serving.

  • Sweeten however you like! I usually start off with a tsp of maple syrup and add more if I think it needs it. You could also use stevia if you prefer.

Turmeric Latte

1 serving

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup full fat coconut milk

  • 3/4 cup water

  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1/8 tsp ground turmeric

  • 1/8 tsp cinnamon

  • Pinch of ground ginger

  • Pinch of black pepper

  • 1 scoop collagen protein powder (optional)

  • 1 tsp maple syrup or honey

Method

Add all ingredients to a small pot and heat on medium. Whisk until there are no longer any clumps. If it feels too thick, add a splash more of water or nut milk. Heat to desired temperate and pour into a mug. For extra frothiness you can blend it up but be careful as the turmeric stains! Top with an extra sprinkle of cinnamon.

I hope you enjoy this yummy drink as much as I do and make sure to tag me @miaharrisnutrition if you make this!

xx
